A "winged needle for veins" (commonly known as dragonfly needle or butterfly needle) consists of a metal (stainless steel) needle tube and a needle base with plastic wings. The connector is connected. It is possible to fix the punctured site with wings so that it does not shift, and is used for instillation into areas that are easily mobile. Although it is possible to secure a venous route for a long time using a winged needle, the needle tip is sharp and the part that enters the blood vessel is short, and there is a risk that blood vessels may be damaged by patient movement and the drug solution may leak out of the blood vessel. Suitable for intravenous drip in cases where this is not the case.
